Parkville is a city in Platte County Missouri with a population of around 10,025. The city is named for George S. Park who bought the steamboat landing concession on the Missouri River from David English in 1838 shortly after the Platte Purchase from the Native Americans opened the area for settlement. By 1877 there were general stores, a shoe store, grocery, hardware, blacksmith shop and two hotels. Many of those little shops and stores are home to today’s shops and restaurants
